FAQ

What is “Positive Molding Technology” and why is it better?

Positive Molding Technology is an important factor in production of HARDEX products.Positive molding results in a more uniform density in the production of the brake pad. It also allows using less resin content in formulation of the brake pad which can lead to improvement in the fading characteristic of the brake pad. The brake pads produced by positive molding process is proven to have much better stopping performance.

What are the differences between the Ceramic and non Ceramic formulations?

Hardex Ceramic products utilize a non-ferrous formulation to reduce noise, disk wear and dusting. Both, ceramic and semi metallic formulations do offer stable friction performance in the right environment, across wide temperature ranges.

Do HARDEX make brake shoes?

Yes, HARDEX does produce premium quality brake shoes, for a wide range of car.

What is the warranty, for HARDEX products?

HARDEX products have a warranty of 20,000 km or one year. This warranty applies to normal wear and tear, under normal environmental conditions. We also replace any manufacturing defect, provided the brake pad or shoe has not been installed.

Does HARDEX brake pads include shims?

Yes. HARDEX brake pads do come with anti-rattle pre attached shims.

How is the backing plate attached to HARDEX brake pads?

The backing plate of HARDEX brake pads is integrally molded, rather than riveted. This ensures more strength and less flex.

What is meant by “braking in”, and why is it necessary, and how is it done?

Brake pads once installed, must undergo a process, called “braking in”. This process helps to reduce brake noise and extends the life of the pads. To do this follow the instruction as follows:

  • Accelerate the car to 50 km, and apply brakes easily until the car almost stops.
  • Stay away from brake about 30 seconds, and repeat the above 5 times.
  • Again accelerate the car to 60km, and then slow down it to 25 km.
  • Stay away from brake for 30 seconds, and repeat the above 5 times.
